Writing Your Company Brochure
A company brochure should be written in simple language and Business English, consisting of short sentences and no jargon. It should consist of bullet points that are quick to grasp and easy to understand. Too much text spells out extra work for the reader and he or she may not have the time or the inclination for it.
Speak directly to your target audience by using first person pronouns. For example, I or We.
Use lots of highlighted headings and sub-heads to differentiate ideas, allowing the reader to concentrate on the topic of his or her interest.
Avoid jargon, even when you talk to people from a specific industry. It is always better to use standard language that everyone can understand.
Start with a brief introduction of your company and its offerings by summing it up in two to three sentences.
List the products or services that you offer. Include your website for people who require further details.
Write about your unique selling propositions and unique advantages rather than highlight every aspect of your product. This helps the reader to know how you are different from the competitor, instead of requiring them to read basic product information that may be common to other similar available products.
Only use Business English and avoid short forms and abbreviations.
The brochure is meant to direct the reader to your website or actual selling locations. Therefore include detailed contact information. Finally, do not finalize any copy without proofreading, either with a professional proofreader or an online grammar checker.
