Writing Your Company Newsletter

Why do you need a newsletter?

Newsletters are effective publicity and PR tools for any company. They can be used to constantly update your clients, potential customers, the media, investors or any other parties involved in your business. Hence, the newsletter should include highlights of your company in impeccable business English.

Decide on the format

You will have to decide if your newsletter will be in print or email or both. Accordingly, you will need to know how much text to write. Key points should be stuck to clearly and concisely.

Headline

The newsletter needs a topic or a headline that will act as a catchphrase. For instance, ABC launched new men’s perfume. You also need to caption every photograph that goes into the newsletter.

Do the background check

Even when you are writing your own company’s newsletter you need to double check facts, statistics, dates and other details. Approximations will not do since the letter goes out to everyone. Proofreading your writing and using an online grammar checker every single time will ensure that your newsletter does not tarnish your company’s image.

How much to write

The newsletter has to be attractive and have an easy mix of content, pictures and interesting snippets etc. Not even the company’s employees will read scores of plain text, so get innovative ideas and creative minds to work on the fun: plain content ratio. You will also need to decide the frequency of the newsletter and the number of copies that are required.
